Daniils Cirics and Maria Parfonova after the concert (2025)
Daniils Cirics (2002) is a Latvian-born violinist based in The Netherlands. He is a promising Young Artist who mainly plays solo and chamber music. Currently a student of prof. Mathieu van Bellen, Shunske Sato, and Sayuri Yamagata at Conservatorium van Amsterdam and takes lessons at Davidsbündler Academy with prof. Daniel Rowland.
He received his primary education at the professional music school named after Emīls Darziņš in Riga with pedagogues Nely Sarkisjan and Inese Milzeraja. He continued studies at Gnessin College of Music (Moscow, Russia) in the class of Alexey Lundin, finishing in 2021 with a diploma as an artist and teacher. Daniils has performed at various stages as a soloist including the Great Guild (Riga), Small Guild (Riga), and participated in festivals like Summertime (Jurmala). He attended master-classes with Roman Nodel, Lev Gerbald, Andreas Ron, Julian Rachlin, Daniel Rowland, Floor Le Coultre, Clémence de Forseville, Boris Garlitsky, and Rosanne Philipens. Performed with orchestras such as LNSO and Virtuosi of Moscow. He also took composition lessons with Marina Gribincika (Grand Music Award for New Composition of the Year).
Daniils is a winner of several international competitions, including Stīgu instrumentu spēle/Valsts konkurss (1st prize, Latvia, Riga), 54th Kocian International Violin Competition (3rd prize, Czech Republic), 4th International Saulius Sondeckis Competition (1st prize, Lithuania), and Young Musician Competition (2nd prize, Tallinn, Estonia). He has been active as a soloist and orchestral player since age 13, performing in prestigious halls in Moscow, Latvia, and the Netherlands. He left Moscow State Conservatory in 2022 due to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and continued his studies at Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
In 2024-2025, Daniils performed at Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw, Rietveld Theater, Grachtenfestival, and more. He started a duo project “Faith and deLight” with pianist Maria Parfonova, received sponsorship from GFY Shoulder Rest, and currently plays on a Bas Maas violin with a Nicolas Maire bow on loan from Muziekinstrumentenfonds.
